About Us
Founders Milo and Will are two school friends who grew up together in Dorset, England. Having both served in His Majesty's Armed Forces, they know a thing or two about traveling long distances together. The idea occurred to them on a trip from Taunton to Portsmouth: Why is carpooling not as popular as it should be in the UK? How can we change the status quo?
As everyone heads home to visit friends and loved ones on the weekend, thousands of ‘five-seaters, one-occupants’ begin their journeys. We knew there need to be an easy-to-use app that lets you see who was going where and when your friends are departing.
The name ThinSkee was inspired by Royal Navy slang, or jackspeak. At the end of the working week, Sailors, Officers and Royal Marines anxiously await the call to ‘thin-out’ for the weekend. The beloved term soon morphed into the more playful ‘thinskee’. It became the perfect term to describe everyone leaving together.
